Abstract
The main problem analyzed in the study was about training needs. The objective of the study was to understand the technical training needs analysis at the agency for education of South Sulawesi province.
The study applied a qualitative method with a descriptive type. Three informants involved in the study including an employee management unit, an employee of data manager, and an analyst of panning, evaluation, and reporting. The data for the study was collected through interviews, observation, and document study. The data were then reduced, displayed, and concluded.
The results of the study showed that there were still employees who did not have the competencies required in their positions. The results of the interviews showed that competency gaps in the positions of analysts for planning and evaluation and reporting were weaknesses in performing their responsibilities. To close the gap, training was needed to improve their work quality. It was suggested that analysis of training need should be performed before placing employees in their positions, to understand whether the employees could perform better in their positions.
